Check back periodically during the week - it may take up to a week to get
them together, but I often get them out sooner.
What finish should I select for my pictures?
It depends on what you will do with the pictures. Matte looks best in a
frame, while glossy is best for a scrapbook. Lustre is a hybrid between the two - it has some
texture to the surface and a sheen, so it will look good in either place.
Can you put my picture on a spiffy widget?
You bet! The lab prints on all kinds of things, from mousepads to magnets
to mugs. Ask and we can set something up.
Can you print on canvas?
Yes! Canvas prints come gallery-wrap mounted (ready to hang or frame),
and they come in sizes from 11x14 to 30x40. These often look good with an oil paint effect - I'll
be glad to make a proof upon request. Ask for details.
When will I get my pictures?
With no custom edits, for prints by mail, expect 2-4 weeks. I will
usually get your order sent to the lab in the next couple of days after your order, then mail takes
about 5 days to the Triangle and 8 days to the Sandhills since the lab is in
California.
When will I get my CD?
Please allow 2-4 weeks for the CD as well. I have yet to find an
efficient process for making a good picture CD, so it takes me extra time.
How about I order the 4x6 and make lots of copies at the
drugstore?
All the prints are copyrighted, so you are not permitted to reproduce
them without special permission. This gets to my pricing philosophy.
What is your pricing philosophy?
One of the ways for me to get better at photography is to charge more for
the better pictures. You can tell me which ones are better by buying larger copies of those
pictures, or by getting the digital negatives and permission to make as many copies as you like. Of
course, this system depends on you buying what you actually want, so I'm counting on you to honor
my copyright and respect the work I invested to be there to take the good picture and the work I
put into making it look good printed.
What are all these digital products?
Web/e-mail pictures are suitable for on-screen viewing. They won't
print very well.
A CD of the whole show or of a horse and rider set is great for
on-screen viewing. They are the collection of all the web/e-mail pictures plus a slide show and
screen saver. The disc of the horse and rider costs a little more because it is custom-made to
your order. These discs are not suitable for printing, and they are not licensed for
reproduction.
The "digital negative" of one picture is suitable for printing any
size, and you get the rights to reproduce it. Get this for the picture you really like and
expect to print more of.
The high-resolution CD which contains the "digital negatives" also
contains a slide show and screen saver of your favorite horse and rider. It differs from the
other CD in that the pictures are suitable for printing and you have permission to print the
pictures. This CD is ideal if you want to print many of multiple pictures.
What happens when someone falls?
About a third of the time I manage to get a "movie" of it. It's only a
third because most of the time folks fall somewhere besides the jump where I'm expecting to take
the picture. Here are some of the lucky ones:
